Families meeting the challenge of mental illness.

Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. NAMI, Mental Health America and many other organizations around the nation plan special activities during May to inform people about mental illness and to promote mental health.

NAMI Mercer participates in Mental Health Awareness Month by offering special educational meetings, holding our annual NAMIWalk, and events such as special films.

For more information about national plans for Mental Health Awareness Month, go to http://www.mentalhealthamerica.net/go/may.

Monday, May 16 7:30-9:00 pm In Our Own Voice Presentation at NAMI Mercer. In Our Own Voice (IOOV) is a unique public education program, developed by NAMI, in which two trained consumer speakers share compelling personal stories about living with mental illness and achieving recovery. NAMI Mercer provides over 50 IOOV presentations throughout the county each year. During Mental Health Awareness Month, we invite members and participants in NAMI to experience this stigma-busting, hopeful presentation. Presenters: Jeff Zinn and Jacquese Armstrong.
